I usually cant be bothered writing reviews... but this is a scathing review about this kettle as it needs a real review: I found 4 really bad things about this kettle and I would not buy again or recommend. Kent take note and do better! Here are the reasons: 1. The spout is not good at pouring. Because of the poor design spout its does not have a smooth sharp direct pour. It does have a fat awkward shaped pour. Because of the spout shape some water inevitably spills out over the side of the spout if you are not super careful when using. Minus a star. 2. The ergonomics of the handle when pouring the last half liter is bad. It feels unnatural in your grasp as you grip the kettle and twist your wrist to empty the kettle. I have used many other kettles with a more round shape on the handle, this kettle has a angular shape which is not as good. Minus a star. 3. The lid only opens 90 degrees from closed ie. straight up from closed position. I found this to be annoying. Other kettles I've had open around 150 degrees keeping the lid wide open and out of the way when filling. Minus a star. 4. If you fill the kettle to the MAX 1.7L mark and boil water. The water at boiling point will vigorously slosh out the top like a geyser though the spout (even though there is a grill there). I found this to be dangerous and very annoying. How could the designer get away with such a flaw. This kettle is safe if you fill to about 1.4 to 1.5L. Minus a star. I'm basically sick of water everywhere. Things I liked but don't fix this kettle. 1. Build quality is good. 2. Look is good. 3. Base plate is strong and sturdy. Good luck with your kettle shopping.

First impression of the product is “wow”. Looks so gorgeous to see water boiling through the glass and the blue LED light make it dazzling. After few days usage found a plasticky smell coming from the boiled water which we expected to vanish after few times of usage but still haven't gone cometely yet. Edit after 4 months Stopped one fine day. After lot of correspondence with customer care, i was directed to a service centre which could barely be qualified to be a shop and after a weeks time they seem to have fixed the issue.
