Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

I am very careful about the products i buy and own, I buy expensive items expecting them to last a long time and i maintain them the same way, When i initially bought this 5 liter cooker the one that i received had a faulty bottom plate which was pealing off from the soldering i received a replacement all this in June of 2020 its August 8 2020 now the cooker has started to fall apart i cook 3 small cups of rice daily in the afternoon apart from that its not used for anything, I handle it with at most care This item is less than 3 months old and i personally hand wash it with sponge once the cooking is over i use Vim to clean it making sure no food particles are left behind so i dont understand what is causing an expensive cookware to fall apart like this, Is there no quality control at hawkins? With current covid situation where will i run around for help very disappointed.......

It cooks fast and because it is stainless steel it is better for health than any aluminum cooker. Aluminum is very dangerous for health so we should avoid to use any aluminum cookware or any other cookware. You can cook rice within 5 minutes in this cooker and save your fuel and time.Hawkins is a specialist in pressure cookers and we know that specialists are always better. I purchased it mainly for cooking rice. I used Contura and Futura anodised aluminium earlier. The dishwasher faded and discoloured the anodised aluminium paint at the exterior surface drastically. To solve this issue, I purchased this stainless steel Futura. However, due to reason I am not understanding, the basmati rice cannot give the aroma of basmati in this stainless steel cooker. I found the metal thickness is lesser in case of stainless steel, which may be the reason. The thickness must have been decided based on engineering rather than cooking. The bottom burned easily as compared with the other pressure cooker as well.I recommend for use other than cooking basmati rice.
