Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

cooks great and fast easy to use, had known the company and the product for a while now, but its the first one in this kitchen.the only issue is that the product came with a partially broken handle (main unit handle had a small broken piece near the joint below), not sure how it will impact the overall life of the cooker, given that the cooker is quiet heavy.

Cooker is good... The only problem is getting used to. No whistles so you have to guess whether the food is cooked or not based on time. It can be difficult to track if you are doing multiple tasks in kitchen.
