Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

Cooker is good... The only problem is getting used to. No whistles so you have to guess whether the food is cooked or not based on time. It can be difficult to track if you are doing multiple tasks in kitchen.

18% Chromium and 8% Nickle Stainless Steel is in its true sense "STAINLESS STEEL". It should last or out last your life time. Its pressure regulator ensures cooking at "peak regulated pressure", there by, ensuring very fast cooking rate.Its needle valve is delicate and requires careful handling.

I am not too fond of pressure cookers because I find it cooks too fast and generally doesn't allow the food to absorb and develop flavours.But I brought this under pressure from the family and have to admit it is one of the best made utensils I own apart from my old cast iron dutch oven. Firstly, its thick stainless steel walls absorbs heat very quick and sustains it for longer with no excessive hot spots which tends to cook unevenly and ruins tricky recipesThe cooker weight design is a little unusual and may need practice for some. I hardly ever cook using pressure but this utensil is so good that I am learning that if put on pressure at the right time depending on what is being cooked, it cooks very well without the loss of flavour that happens in most other aluminium or thin-walled utensils. Truly worth the extra price just for the quality, design and the joy of learning to use a great new tool.

Superb product, I love it. Only con is it’s weight and that makes handling and washing difficult. There are many negative reviews complaining that the cooker is not whistling. It will never whistle. It’s not a whistling cooker like the traditional ones. We have to calculate only the time when the cooker attains full operating pressure according to the food items we cook. Food or fluids may splash if correct amount of liquid is not used. Need to refer the manual thoroughly otherwise one may find it difficult to use. First time users need much patience and practice for best use of this product
