The oil smells like burnt jaggery. It seems that the manufacturer left the herbs in the oil for too long or heated the oil at a very high temperature. I am not sure how effective the oil is if the herbs are burnt and chemicals have degraded.I have used Baidyanath Mahamash oil, as well as oil purchased from my ayurvedic doctor and it is more expensive but much superior and totally effective. Mahamash oil has herbal ayurvedic smell and orangish colour but not caramalised burnt odour.
