This sauce claims to be a Korean spicy black bean sauce but in reality it doesn't fulfil any of those terms used in its name. For starters it's not spicy at all. I don't know why I was expecting a nuclear sauce level spicy but it got me more disappointed. It has a strong flavour of garlic and soy sauce which is not expected from a black bean sauce. It should have fermented black bean paste and hence should have some umami in its taste. But unfortunately if you check the ingredient list fermented black bean paste is no where to be seen. Black bean sauce looks really dark but this sauce is brown. The sauce should not be called a black bean sauce. Very very disappointed by this purchase.

Woh hup‘s black bean sauce lacks the pungent black bean flavor. They have given more quantity and less flavor. Have tried lee kum‘s black bean sauce and found it to be more flavorful.
