About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Simple. Natural.Gourmet. How did you come up with the idea for this product?We realised the inaccessibility to gourmet food in India while we were students and wanted to explore global flavours. The only options we found were limited in variety full of preservatives and far from being authentic. Being amateur cooks we couldn't prepare many of the recipes we found online which left us only with the option of eating at expensive restaurants. So we came up with gourmet recipe kits a unique format wherein each box had ingredients in recipe proportions with directions on how to put them together. The kits eliminate lengthy and rather tedious steps of shopping for ingredients or measuring quantities. Most interestingly the simple nature of the kits eliminate the aversion to cooking global recipes or gourmet food at home just because it sounds complicated. What makes your product special?Our recipes are among the closest you would find to authentic tastes of native dishes. All recipes have been handcrafted by our chefs after conducting rigorous research and trials so that each dish bears the experience of its native place. We say a straight no to any added preservative colour or flavour. Our products are all natural and achieve their shelf life through thermal treatments while packaging the products. What has been the best part of your startup experience?It has to be how researching and experimenting food from around the world has opened our minds to new cultures new ways of living and of course to new flavours. It has made us explorers and not just of food but of experiences in general. We have been able to built a community of food lovers like ourselves in the people we work with and also in those to whom we serve our products. It is such an enriching experience when people are able to relate to aromas and flavours and can see them as bearing stories of different places and cultures. Not to mention in the industry which is dominated by commercial food giants we have overcome the challenge of carving a niche for ourselves wherein people have now started looking forward to Chef's Basket experiences after busy days and on special evenings alike.
